had Always love keane's music, mellow & angsty. remember the first song I heard is "Somewhere only we know" yesh, unbelievability good! as well as many others, then i heard this song - 'A Bad Dream' in one of scrubs episode, first in my mp3 playlist since, enuf said.
It's partially based on the poem "An Irish Airman Forsees His Death" by W.B. Yeats. the band will recite the it everytime before playing the song live. interpretation(own): i will die, but i choose to fly, choose to fight. not cose i hate nor love the countries nor for fame or fortune, but for the sheer joy of flying. at the very moment, I saw it all, everything in the past and everything that could have. but it will be a waste just to live in those. all that matters is the moment now, perhaps only now, can i truly and wholeheartedly realize that.
so LIVE in the moments now. For it is exceptionally difficult to look at one's own life without hoping it will be better in the future or thinking about "how it could have been...". but to use the knowledge of the past and dreams of the future to guide you. so Live Life to it's fullest. Live like you mean it!!!
"I know that I shall meet my fate,
Somewhere among the clouds above,
Those that I fight I do not hate,
Those that I guard I do not love:
My country is Kiltartan Cross,
My countrymen Kiltartan's poor,
No likely end could bring them loss
Or leave them happier than before.
Nor law, nor duty bade me fight,
Nor public men, nor cheering crowds,
A lonely impulse of delight
Drove to this tumult in the clouds;
I balanced all, brought all to mind,
The years to come seemed waste of breath,
A waste of breath the years behind
In balance with this life, this death. "
Why do I have to fly
over every town up and down the line?
I'll die in the clouds above
and you that I defend, I do not love.
I wake up, it's a bad dream,
No one on my side,
I was fighting
But I just feel too tired
to be fighting,
guess I'm not the fighting kind.
Where will I meet my fate?
Baby I'm a man, I was born to hate.
And when will I meet my end?
In a better time you could be my friend.
[chorus]
I wake up, it's a bad dream,
No one on my side,
I was fighting
But I just feel too tired
to be fighting,
guess I'm not the fighting kind.
Wouldn't mind it
if you were by my side
But you're long gone,
yeah you're long gone now.
Where do we go?
I don't even know,
My strange old face,
And I'm thinking about those days,
And I'm thinking about those days.
I wake up, it's a bad dream,
No one on my side,
I was fighting
But I just feel too tired
to be fighting,
guess I'm not the fighting kind.
Wouldn't mind it
if you were by my side
But you're long gone,
yeah you're long gone now.
